Part III: My Journey to Modesty - “Why I only wear dresses and skirts as a Christian woman”
If you haven’t yet read Parts I and II of the “My Journey to Modesty” series, please read those before continuing on to the rest of the journey in Part III. I began to feel conviction of The Holy Spirit about my wardrobe some months after I began wearing a Christian head covering. I never dressed provocatively according to worldly standards as in my clothing never showed my body parts, cleavage nor was it tight by any means. However, I did wear leggings quite often or skirts that would unintentionally show my womanly curves.
What I mean by “unintentionally” is that by nature, women’s clothing is made to fit “exact.” By exact, the clothing is going to show the curves and outline of the female body through her wardrobe pieces, particularly if she is wearing jeans or pants. It is uncommon to see a woman wearing oversized clothing as often as you do men because that is not the general nature of female clothing in today’s society. The clothing I wore fit exactly to the female body which I later understood and realized was displeasing to The Lord.
What is it about worldly female attire that is displeasing to The Lord? It is important to Abba that His daughters carry themselves with biblical femininity. In biblical femininity there is a softness and gentleness pleasing unto The Lord. This is reflected in our personhood and how we represent Christ here on the earth. Biblical femininity includes modesty which is the covering up of what would be perceived as enticing to the natural eye or “visually appealing” which could include skin, hair, clothing, jewelry, body scent and the like. Modesty covers up what would naturally draw attention to oneself. It is keeping that which is given by Yahweh in “secret” so as not to be advertised for all to see or experience.
I am reminded of the wayward woman spoken of in the book of Proverbs where it states how she was loud and hanging out in the streets which is very unbecoming of a woman especially during biblical times. She can also be attributed to the immoral woman and her seductive agenda. The way one dresses is an indication of the heart. Sadly, many women in the world wear tight and revealing clothing for the attention of men or approval from others. Unbeknownst to them, these men are only lusting after the outward appearance and how it can satisfy their personal and fleshly desires. Some women do understand but for many, they don’t understand until it is too late.
But what about those who say that women only wore head coverings and long dresses plus skirts during biblical days and it does not apply to modern times because it is Old Testament? I beg to differ. God is raising up a group of his daughters whom He has revealed what is pleasing to Him in His word that is not just applicable to ancient times. Yes, He is the Ancient of Days but He is still the same yesterday, today and forevermore meaning God HAS NOT and WILL NOT change!
Are you trying to say that a holy and righteously moral God must be accepting of modern fashion in today’s world because “it’s trendy?” When has Jehovah ever been in the business of doing things according to society’s standards? Did He not say in His word that we are to be “set apart” for His use? Please tell me that you are not trying to modernize a holy God and acclimate Him to this world in the 21st century with current trends, technology, fashion, gadgets…Do you see how silly and foolish that sounds? As if we could manipulate an omniscient, omnipotent and glorious God…ha!

If you didn’t get a chance to read “Part I: My Journey to Modesty at age 43,” I encourage you to read it before continuing on to Part II.
Immediately I popped off my fake press-on nails and couldn’t understand at the time why I had become disgusted after having just put them on. Then I threw away all of my longed hair wigs thinking I could just transition into wearing shorter wigs. However, that was not what The Lord had in store and often times will use your enemies for you to clearly gain an understanding. Of course, this is all for His glory. I then throw out the wigs too. Abba knew I had a concern about my alopecia, an autoimmune condition that causes hair loss and baldness but He already had a remedy. You see this is where He lead me into studying about head coverings. I was then on a quest to find out more about this topic as I was always told this was “Old Testament.” Yet that was not the way Yah saw it.
I started out wearing simple headcoverings and let me tell you…I noticed an immediate change in my prayer life INSTANTANEOUSLY!!!!! I truly felt covered and protected by our Heavenly Father. I could sense a shift in the spirit regarding my authority while doing spiritual warfare. It was amazing!!! I am a single woman so I decided to wear my head covering all the time instead of just during prayer and prophesying as spoken in 1 Corinthians 11:5-6. You see Abba had shown me that I didn’t need to wear wigs to cover my shame and baldness but by wearing a headcovering, I would be glorifying Him.
I must explicitly state that I wear a “Christian” headcovering not to be confused with any other religion or sect. There are many other religions that also practice headcoverings and I never want to be mistaken for any other faith outside of being a follower of Yeshua, Christ Jesus.
The headcovering has become a part of my wardrobe. Instinctively, I reach for it whenever I am getting dressed as the final piece of my outfit. I have purchased many beautiful scarves to wear and most importantly, my 14 year-old-son who has autism, fully supports and encourages my decision to headcover as a follower of Christ as well. I am so grateful and blessed The Lord has chosen me to steward over this young man of God!
It has been exactly 2 years since my journey to modesty began in October 2023 and I just want to encourage other brothers and sisters in Christ that is is never too late. Start your journey to modesty today and see how God began to move in your life!!!

Part I: “My Journey to Modesty at age 43!”
If you were to ask someone to define the term “modesty,” how do you think they would respond? When most people hear the term “modesty,” they immediately envision an outward appearance covered from head to toe. However, I would like to submit to you that God’s view of modesty is not merely external but also internal specifically the attitude of one’s heart. You see The Lord desires to change us from the inside with evidence of an outward change. This is the process of sanctification. He must deliver us from the old ways of the world that we have become accustomed to. This might include ideologies, perspectives or mindsets rooted in carnality and worldliness. We must be a pure vessel for Holy Spirit to reside in. Imagine someone as holy as Yeshua trying to take up residence in a polluted, tainted and dirty atmosphere in all of His holiness. Doesn’t sound very appealing now does it?
Although I turned 45 this year in 2025, my journey to modesty actually began a few months after my 43rd birthday in 2023 while living on the west coast. What catapulted the events leading to my modesty journey was that I became the center of targeting by a group of nonbelievers. The targeting included spreading rumors, lies and gossip amongst former co-workers, family and former friends. I prayed to The Lord to understand why would someone consistently say things about me that weren’t true especially considering how dedicated I was to Christ Jesus. He is faithful and answered that it was based on my outward appearance. You see even though I fully surrendered to God in 2015 including a vow of celibacy, I still continued dressing the same way I did when I lived in the world. You know things common among worldly women - wigs, weaves, hair attachments, makeup, fake nails, high heels, luxury brands, expensive items. Although there had been an inward change within me, the outward perception still screamed VANITY!!!!
The names I was called were very unbecoming especially as a woman of God. It was from here that I gained an understanding and Abba, in all of his grace and mercy, began to show me what biblical beauty actually looked like which is pleasing to Him. How could I represent such a holy being when I still remakes of worldly residue? It was in this moment that I truly understood how He exchanges our garments of sin for robes of righteousness. What a wonderful, big and mighty God we serve!!!
I too began to see how these things were unholy and displeasing to The Lord. The Bible talks about the seductress Jezebel, a Phoenician queen who “painted her face” or put on makeup, in efforts to seduce Jehu who had been assigned by Yahweh to annihilate the wicked queen. Many women in the Body of Christ who are professing Christians have not yet made the connection between makeup and seduction. You see there is a spirit of pride and lust attached to makeup once it is put on. All you have to do is turn on the TV or any form of social media to understand what I’m referring to. The puckered lips, flawless and contoured skin, form fitting clothes - you get the idea but it’s all rooted in a spirit of lust with women desiring to be attractive.
It feels good to the human flesh to be complimented and for some women even desired even if it is not one’s own husband. While men are usually after the one thing that God created as a form of intimacy in the covenant of marriage between husbands and wives. The Bible tells us especially as women that we are not to be a stumbling block unto our brothers. A “stumbling block” means a hindrance. For example, a brother in Christ or even another worldly man may be tempted in an ungodly way by the way a woman dresses or looks. We as women of God do not want to lead our brothers into sin.

New Series - “My Journey to Modesty”
Blessings and welcome! I am so thankful you are here. In the next several blog posts, I will delve deeper into my process of sanctification which is my journey to modesty. And yes, it did not occur until a few months after my 43rd birthday in 2023! I will be sharing this journey as a multi-part series because it entails so many details of my testimony that I don’t want to leave out and want it to be a blessing to all who read it. With that being said, let’s pray:
Lord,
I pray that the minds and hearts of those reading my blog are opened to receive what you have placed on my heart to share by way of your Holy Spirit. May my testimony be encouraging, strengthening and empowering giving conviction to those whom you intend it to do so, Lord. May they remember that only Holy Spirit can change a person and you will meet them right where they are no matter what that might look like. May those reading be endowed by your loving kindness and grace on their spiritual walk as they live for you. In the mighty name of your only and begotten precious son, Yeshua I pray. Amen. Hallelujah!
Grace and Shalom to you,

“God is doing a NEW thing!”
Blessings and Welcome to Blog Post #1 here on my newly launched ministry website. I am so thankful you are here on this little piece of the internet The Lord has assigned to me. I pray to be a good stewart over this work and walk in obedience while uplifting, encouraging and sharing downloads from Yahweh here on this faith based blog. God is definitely doing a new thing, all things are being made new and I couldn’t be more excited! The enemy has fought and resisted me to this point for a number of years before I had the strength and courage to move forward. Yeshua has done so much for me and I know he will continue to be faithful to His people.
Why the ministry name, “House of Grace Ministries” you may ask? I’m reminded that “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Also, I will only be able to accomplish my assignment by the grace of God in HIS house. This is NOT my ministry but GOD’s ministry!!! I tell Him this all the time in the secret place of prayer when I am ministering to Him. I cry out to Him asking for instructions on how to move forward to ensure I’m walking in the spirit and not the flesh. And believe me, He absolutely LOVES answering!! I am so in awe of Him!!!
I will post here on this blog as Holy Spirit leads me. Until then my brothers and sisters in Christ…may the grace of God be with you as you continue walking out this daily walk of faith in the name of Yeshua I pray. Amen!
