Part IV: “My Journey to Modesty at age 43” - What does it mean to be set apart by God?

If you missed Parts I-III of the series, “My Journey to Modesty at age 43” then please read those blog posts and come back for the rest as I continue sharing my testimony here in Part IV.

What does it mean to be “set apart” by God? In the book of Psalms 4:3, David writes: “But know that the Lord has set apart for Himself him who is godly.” Therefore, to be set apart by God means allowing the Lord to use you as a representative of Himself here in the earth forsaking the ways of the world. In the book of 2 Corinthians 6:17, it states: “Therefore come out from among them and be separate, says The Lord.”Being set apart includes living a life of holiness, purity, righteousness and every way that mirrors the character of our Lord Jesus Christ. Living for Christ is not a task that we can do alone without the help of God’s Holy Spirit. However, Abba wants us to earnestly seek Him in every area of our lives as we are on this journey of godliness. In being set apart, He has chosen us to complete an assignment that requires us to take on his nature here in the world. You are making a conscious decision to no longer be a friend or follower of the world knowing that God said that “friendship with the world is enmity with Him.” Do you really want to be an enemy of God?!

You see when you are truly set apart, you will look different, talk different, act different and many in the world will not understand you. Your passions, desires and likes will change as well. What once interested you, you will no longer find fulfilling. The nature of your conversations, taste in music and circle of friends will cause you to re-evaluate things asking, “Is what I’m doing adding to the kingdom of God?” This doesn’t mean that you disassociate yourself from all unbelievers though. You are still to be a light on the light post allowing the light of Christ to shine before men (Matthew 5:16). However, you are to be influential in these associations rather than being influenced. Yah said in his word that “bad company corrupts good morals.”

In being a peculiar people as described by the Ancient of Days in His word, those in the world find followers of Christ strange, odd or weird but this is how they will know that you have indeed been set apart for His holy use. The holy prophets of old were not popular and many of them were ostrichizied, imprisoned or even killed. Yah required many of them to perform tasks that others found embarrassing, questionable or even undignified. To be set apart means not compromising but having a boldness to do the things of God no matter the cost knowing that for God we live and for God we die. The Lord may require you to do things that your natural human mind may not understand but you are to walk in obedience even when you don’t fully comprehend all of what is going on. You don’t desire to follow the crowd, you don’t care about being popular or the number of likes or followers you may have on social media. From your outward appearance, others will recognize a uniqueness about you.

When you gave your life over to Yeshua, Christ Jesus, you gave him full authority to be the Lord or Master over your life. Our Master knows what is best for us in His omniscience since he created this world and has already written the story of our lives. I want to ensure that my name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life and every follower of Yeshua should as well. Wickedness and evil has always been around and will always be around since the fall in the Garden of Eden. The adversary works tirelessly to exhaust the saints as we continue doing the work of the ministry in the advancement of the kingdom of God. We are a chosen people and needed to win souls to Christ. We have a choice to make and it is crucial that one make their election sure. As Joshua said, “As for me and my house, we shall serve the Lord.” Whom will you choose to serve?

Let us pray:

Lord,

I want to thank you for each and every person that has made it this far in the reading of the testimony of my journey to modesty. I pray Lord that they have been blessed immensely in even the smallest of ways. You said in your word that even if we have faith the size of a mustard seed, we could move mountains. I pray that the mustard seed planted in these posts are watered, another comes along to water it with you ultimately giving the increase. Lord, as I continue doing the work of the ministry here in the earth, may these writings be inspired by Holy Spirit and I am able to deliver it in a way that is most impactful to your people. I do this work unselfishly Abba and pray you give me the grace to accomplish this task that has been assigned to me. In the name of your beautiful son, Yeshua I pray. Amen!

Have a blessed and fabulous day,

-Trena
