Test the spirit and see if it be of God!

The prosperity gospel is an extremely popular message delivered by many pastors in The Body of Christ. They often quite a universal statement that “God wants all His children to be RICH!” This is NOT true and is error. This is why it’s so important to know the word of God for yourself. The Bible says in 2 Timothy 2:15, “Study to show thyself approved.”

If you are not studying and meditating in God’s word daily not sporadically or occasionally, you will unknowingly become bewitched like the foolish Galatians. This is the correction that Apostle Paul referenced in a letter he wrote to the church at Galatia who initially believed the gospel of Jesus Christ but became “bewitched” or mesmerized by a different doctrine outside of Christ. This spirit was not of God but was convincing enough to fool even the most devout followers of Christ. Let me explain.

You see, the Bible says that in the last days that even “the very elect will be fooled.” (Matthew 24:24). Essentially, even the most anointed man or woman of God could fall under this deception if they are not careful. There are many wolves in sheep’s clothing (Matthew 7:15) not to mention the parable told by Christ about the wheat and the tares (Matthew 13: 24-42). If you are not careful, you will miss the message of how Yeshua is warning his disciples about unbelievers blending in with believers that it will be hard to tell the difference. Hence, one must test the spirit behind the message, sermon or music to see if it be of God.

So back to my initial statement early in the post about the prosperity gospel and why this message preached is error. Yah has specifically stated in His word that he’s called some to obtain wealth and others to be poor. However, it is not the traditional understanding of rich vs. poor that we have become so accustomed to in western society. Those whom he’s called to be “poor” in this world are rich in faith. In delivering the sermon on the mount, Christ said “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 5:3).

So why is this part of scripture intentionally left out? I will tell you exactly why. The proponents who push the prosperity gospel convince believers to “sow” a certain amount of money to attain financial freedom or wealth with a heavy emphasis on giving money to a particular individual, church or ministry. They give the impression that a financial blessing from God awaits you by way of this transaction. However, this message is delivered unilaterally across the board to many without delineating the specifics of an individual’s financial situation in The Lord.

For example, there are some popular and infamous televised pastors who tell you to sow $1000 right now to obtain your financial blessing. Or the message may state that God wants to get something to you but you only have a window of opportunity to give this specific amount of money. This is NOT the spirit of the living God. When God speaks, it will align to His word no matter how anointed or super spiritual the messenger is.

Oh and lastly, don’t fall for the scripture that this hirelings twist stating, “God wants to give you the power to obtain wealth.” Once again, God has called some to be poor in this world but rich in faith. Read it for yourself and anything spoken by anyone claiming to speak on God’s behalf.

Love you all with the love of Christ,
