Financial Stewardship Series - Part II: Self-sufficiency vs. Self sustainability

There has been a movement in recent years of more and more people returning to the old primitive and pioneering days of homesteading. But may I submit to you that in fact this was Yah’s plan all along for us to be fully sustained off the land that He created (self-sustainability) instead of dependent upon the worldly system created by man (self-sufficiency)?

You see the worldly system created by man removes God out of the entire equation but how can you subtract the Creator who chose to add us to this earth as representatives of Him? And who also made us joint-heirs with Christ? (Romans 8:17). The Bible says that “Satan is the prince of the power of the air” (Ephesians 2:2) and he’s been given authority here in this world. As a result, so many are being deceived on a mass scale for the ushering in of the antichrist who is already in this world. The agenda is being advanced to take us out of the security of our Lord and Savior and thrust us into the arms of man to be sustained. But men and women of God…this ought not be so!!!!!

The book of Genesis gives the account of how God created the earth in six days then rested on the seventh day which he deemed “The Sabbath.” As a matter of fact, resting on this day was so important to Yahweh that it is one of the commandments given to the children of Israel in the book of Exodus on their way to the Promised Land. So when did believers start using this day to play catch up from the work week, working extra hours, running errands because they didn’t have time during the week…you get the idea!

So when did we begin relying on self which in actuality is a spirit of pride because you are not seeking Yah/Jehovah as your source? When did we as believers place our trust in the worldly system created by man once we said “yes” and accepted Yeshua as Lord? As followers of Christ, we place our faith in the only one able to save not in a human being or system created by the world. When you do this, you began to rely on that job to sustain you when to an employer you are really dispensable. It is so disheartening to hear how many employees are offended or hurt by the lack of loyalty by employers. Sadly, the employer-employee relationship was made personal to the employee but merely business to the employer and always becomes evident during job layoffs, job restructuring or even job terminations.

Remember in His word that Yeshua said that he chose us out of this world therefore the world hates us (John 15:19). It is so simple yet made difficult in western culture because it is so LOUD and everywhere you turn.

God is and has always been our source for what we need. He makes a way by working through people here in the earth to bring about His perfect will. When he caused you to have favor in a particular situation or circumstance, He’s demonstrating or rather revealing Himself as your source. Yes you will need some money to sustain for essentials or necessities but what security are you truly seeking after - security in the worldly system which is futile or security in the one who loves us so much that He gave up his divinity to become a part of humanity to die for our transgressions? Don’t be a slave to the system and rely on that job or employer to sustain you. As believers we are slaves unto Christ (Ephesians 6:6) who fully sustains our every need!

Stay tuned for Part IV of the Financial Stewardship series. Until then be blessed in the name of our Lord and Savior, Yeshua Ha’Masiach. Amen!

The grace and peace of The Lord be with you,

-Trena
